​Sailor Moon is a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi.

​It was originally serialized in Nakayoshi from 1991 to 1997; the 52 individual chapters were published in 18 tankōbon volumes.

It also has an anime made in 1993, and a reboot/remake, sailor moon crystal, which aired in 2014.

Although it will not be discussed here, it has several musicals and a live action/drama series.

  • ​That Naoko Takeuchi named Usagi's family after her own?
  • That Naoko wrote Sailor Star Song? And a couple others?
  • That when Sailor Moon does the "In the name of the moon" speech, Sailor Moon makes the American Sign Language symbol for "I Love You" with her hands?
  • That Zoisite and Malachite were both male homosexual lovers in the Japanese version?
  • That In the original manga, Tuxedo Mask never once throws a rose as an attack?
  • That "Sailor Stars", was never dubbed in America due to America losing licensing rights to "Sailor Moon"?
  • That all transformations of the scouts have been edited to remove bodylines (breasts, etc). They are not called Sailor Scouts, but Sailor Senshi (or Sailor Soldiers) in the original version?
  • There exists a town in Hungary called "Mako" (similar to Mako-chan, which Makoto/Sailor Jupiter is called by Usagi/Sailor Moon)?
  • In Sailor Tin Nyanko's name, the "nyan" part is the sound a cat makes in Japan. [Like "Meow" in English] ?
